Scammers and Facebook Hacking
Phone Scammers Targetting Coast Businesses
I've been hearing more and more about the so called Microsoft technical support scam phone call, and yesterday I actually received one. Interested in how the scam worked I played along for the entire phone call, and you can read the full story on my website . In summary the scam caller says they are from the "Windows Support Centre" and they advise your PC is infected with viruses, and get you to go to their website to purchase ongoing support to fix the issues from $199. Remember, NOBODY knows what is on your PC or that it is infected with viruses nor can they know your name and phone number from your PC. Just hang up.
New Firefox Plugin Allows Capturing of Facebook Accounts
A new Firefox web browser plugin allows users to simply and easily capture Facebook and other social networking site login data from users on unprotected wireless networks. This includes networks at most hotels, McDonalds and resorts. If you don't need to enter a password to get onto the wireless netywork itself, you could be at risk. The safest thing to do is not use Facebook or any sites requiring a login that don't have https:// in it's website address when on public wireless connections.
